The Abia State Government on Tuesday announced the dissolution of transition committee chairmen of the seventeen local govern¬ment areas of the state and their deputies, and subse-quently reappointed them to the same positions.
It will be recalled that the state House of Assem¬bly said on Monday that the tenure of the 17 local government chairmen had expired since June 17, 2020 and asked the execu¬tive arm to submit fresh appointments to the House.
In a statement issued in Umuahia Tuesday morn¬ing, the state government, through the Chief of Staff to the governor, Dr. Antho¬ny Agbazuere, directed the reappointed transition chairmen and their depu¬ties to report to the Abia State House for clearance.
This is coming barely 24 hours after the lawmakers said the tenure of the reap¬pointed transition commit¬tee chairmen had expired and therefore asked the government to appoint new chairmen to make their tenure legal. Source: Daily Independent
