It was all glorious yesterday, 8th May, 2020, at St. Margret Umahi International Market, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, as the newly acquired Electric Tricycle (KEKE), by Ebonyi State government under the visionary and innovative leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Chief David Umahi, FNSE, FNATE commences its town shuttle service.
The flag off ceremony was graced by dignitaries and some honourable members of Ebonyi State Executive Council; as well as a crowd of well meaning Ebonyians and Market Men and Women.
During this epoch making and historic occasion, Dr. Steven Odoh, Honourable Commissioner for Business Development, who represented His Excellency the governor, assured Ebonyians of the readiness of the State Government to do more in the area of human capital development and human empowerment, and urged them to continue praying and supporting the government as more dividends of democracy shall be delivered by our Workaholic and development orientated governor.
Moreso, Dr. Onyebuchi Chima, Commissioner for Education and the host commissioner of Vocational College; advised the youth and the emerging generation to live beyond the euphoria of the new transport system and think innovatively on how more heights could be attained in the State through them. Addressing the crowd, he inspired them to think positively towards how the parts of the tricycle could be reproduced in Ebonyi to ensure the availability when it comes to maintenance and replacement of the parts.
Furthermore, Mrs Ann Aligwe, Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Human Capital Development, appreciated the governor for the dream come true and encouraged the beneficiaries of the transport scheme, to be business orientated, human friendly and grateful to their Excellencies , as positive attitude reinforces behavior.
Nevertheless, the Special Assistant to the governor on Park Development, Chief Emmanuel Igwe, stressed that the beneficiaries of the tricycle have been given the franchise of operation within our International Market; and urged them to serve the public better through the scheme, as that has been the interest of our dear governor for the good people of Ebonyi State. He further maintained that the E- tricycles beyond every reasonable doubt, is more economical, safer in terms of security and Eco-friendly.
He appreciated His Excellency the governor and indeed, the Honourable S.A to the governor on Vocational Education, Hon. Princess Adaeze Nwaji Esq; for making out time to train the beneficiaries of the tricycle to ensure quality service delivery.
In his word, he affirmed that cars and other vehicles shall henceforth, not allowed inside the International Market once more E-tricycles are deployed to the market , as they shall park at the Motor Park across the market flyover and use the Green Transport to go inside the market. This is basically for security reasons.
In same vain, Hon. Princess Adaeze Nwaji Esq; honourable S.A to the governor on Vocational Education, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to God Almighty over the success and the accomplishment of the Green Transport Scheme. Going further, she appreciated the governor mostly, for believing in her capacity and positively touching the lives of Ebonyians through the Ebonyi Vocational College.
She posits her strong assurance thats the governor is committed to building the first Silicone Valley in Nigeria here in Ebonyi State Vocational College. She prays God continuously bless the wonder-working governor and his leadership as they continues their good works towards advancement of Ebonyi State.
